Cult Of Venus

One of the first shrines to Venus (Aphrodite) was in the sanctuary of Pathos on Cyprus. According to tradition it was off this coast that she was born from the sea foam after Cronus castrated Uranus and threw his testicles into the ocean, forever tying her to violence and fertility.
